In this fifty minute lecture, Dr. Brené Brown explores the meaning of love and belonging, and how our feelings of “never good enough” prevent us from experiencing real connection.

Brené writes:

“Our lives are a collection of stories – truths about who we are, what we believe, what we come from, how we struggle, and how we are strong. When we can let go of what people think, and own our story, we gain access to our worthiness – the feeling that we are enough just as we are, and that we are worthy of love and belonging.

If we spend a lifetime trying to distance ourselves from the parts of our lives that don’t fit with who we think we’re supposed to be, we stand outside of our story and have to hustle for our worthiness by constantly performing, perfecting, pleasing, and proving. Our sense of worthiness lives inside of our story. It’s time to walk into our experiences and to start living and loving with our whole hearts.”

This DVD contains new material based on Brené’s latest research on men, couples, parenting, the workplace, and the Wholehearted Journey.

Dr. Brené Brown is a researcher, writer, and professor. She is a member of the research faculty at the University of Houston, where she has spent the past ten years studying a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness, posing the question:

How do we cultivate a life defined by authenticity, love and belonging, and a resilient spirit, and what gets in the way?

Brené spent the first seven years of her decade-long research journey studying how the universal experiences of shame and fear affect us, and how practicing courage, compassion, and connection in our everyday lives can change the way we live, love, parent, and work.
