STOP reading if you think I cancelled meetings or missed emails because I was working hard this afternoon.

OK - the rest of you can keep going.

Yes. I went today. First showing. With my SatC partner in crime, Laura.

Yes. It was awesome! Yes. It lived up to our expectations.

No, I don't recommend using your camera in a sold-out theater packed with anxious, super-excited, middle aged women. Not even for a quick blog shot.

I think I found you through the shutter sisters, but I got so lost in your writing that now I'm not sure. You've got some inspiring, interesting and challenging stuff on here - and you're a Texan, to boot!

I look forward to reading and learning more.

I LOVED IT TOO!!! I went with 5 fabulous friends and it was a blast. It was a party in the theatre and when it was all over the crowd clapped and cheered. It was friggin' awesome!!!

Your story about the photo showed me the step by step process for doing things differently. I was practicing authenticity vs approval last Thursday at our medical executive council meeting. We are a chosen nine, Seven doctors and two nurse practitioners. It was our second meeting. The chair requested input on two small decions; he asked each doctor in turn and stopped at the two NPs. My normal behavior would have been to character assassinate after the meeting and passively attack. I am one of the NPs and we were all chosen for our leadership qualities to perform the same types of duties. I prayed, "God, I hope Dr. Brown's stuff works." After the meeting I requested a moment of his time to make a suggestion to include the entire team's input. I told him that the NPs experience is valuable and should be included and as a leader of the group the others will follow his example. He accepted my suggestion with a deadpan expression. My face felt HOT red, I thanked him and moved on. I don't remember the last time my face flushed.

I neglected my after thoughts after I took this leap of authenticity to myself and risking disapproval and even loss of my position on the council. Knee jerk reaction was OMG what have I done? Then I realized I do not want to spend four hours a week dedicated to this council if my input is not asked or considered. I don't want to be a token mid level representative; I want to actively participate and be of service and I was honored to have been chosen. I think to myself...Me a leader? I'm reading a book on imperfections, courage, vulnerability and trying to get to the roots of perfectionism, overcompensating. What if it's my perfectionism and overcompensating qualities I was chosen for? Okay I'm not going there today.
I feel good that I stretched myself and I tried something new.
