tgif + chookooloonks giveaway!

Happy 4th of July weekend! We're celebrating the holiday weekend with a wonderful giveaway from my good friend Karen over at Chookooloonks! Two lucky winners will get a set of her beautiful botanical series notecards! It's like winning a bouquet!

All you have to do to win is leave a comment (before Monday) telling us:

1. Who/what are you trusting today?

2. Who/what are you grateful for today?

3. Who/ what is inspiring you today?

Here's mine:

Today, I'm trusting that it's OK to slow down. Take time off. Do nothing.

I'm grateful for fresh flowers, really cold iced-tea, and OPI's nail color, "Party in my Cabana." I'm the last person in the free world who would actually host a party in a cabana, but I love the poppy pink!

I'm inspired by the goodness of my family. My big, complicated, wonderful, imperfect, messy, amazing, love-you-'till-it-hurts family.

Happy TGIF! Can't wait to read your comments!

I am trusting that my best friendships are strong and wise and loving women who can navigate life well with me, and forge deeper relationships even when we struggle to schedule our times together.

I am so grateful for a friend who took the time to write me a note of gratitude, telling me how I had positively impacted her life. Her words were timely, and much needed, and made my day.

I am inspired by a new photo project that is stretching me-- I shot photos in Manual today, which is a big leap for me! This photography project is an "imitation" of some photos I saw in a gallery. But trying to replicate those photos is a great opportunity to learn (learn from the masters!) and I was inspired today to take some creative risks with my camera. I came home with some shots that make me truly happy!

Today I am trusting. Period. This morning I had to stop myself for just a moment, reminding kinda crazy me that I'm awfully good at making up stories and that I have to trust that things will be what they are supposed to be-nothing more, nothing less.
Today I am grateful for the vacation that is winding down. It's had some interesting moments (always learning, always) but it's been tremendous to be away and to see some places that are almost beyond description. Although I'm still not entirely enamored with Paris because of the big city thing and the fact that I don't do that well, France has been wonderful.
Today I am inspired by the poetry of Mary Oliver. A friend with a similar passion for literature and words reminded me today of her poem "Peonies". One of the last lines talking about the fleeing life of peonies is this:
"....their eagerness
to be wild and perfect for a moment, ..."
For me, that line is lyrical in the beauty it contains.
